WITH IC REGULATOR

Charging-system trouble-shooting (IC-regulator alternator)

1
Ignition switch "ON". (Check light for operation.)
Light "OFF"
Disconnect connector (S, L) and ground L lead wire. (Check light for operation.) — With alternator side L terminal grounded, internal short occurs if + diode is short-circuited.

Light "ON"
2
Engine idling (Check light for operation.)
Dim light / Light flickers / Bright light
Connect positive lead (+) of voltmeter on B terminal and negative lead (−) to L terminal from harness side. Engine idling. (Measure the voltage across "B" and "L" terminals.)
