SERVICE PROCEDURE

Diagnostic flow — Symptom 3 (impossible to start, partial combustion)

1
1. LISTEN — Listen for injector operating sound.
N.G.
Check injector circuit. [See page EF & EC-112.]
O.K.
2
2. CHECK — Check vacuum hose of pressure regulator for clogging.
N.G.
Repair or replace the hose.
O.K.
3
3. REMOVE — Remove vacuum hose from pressure regulator, and try to start.
Improved
4. MEASURE — Connect vacuum hose to pressure regulator and measure fuel pressure.
4. MEASURE — Connect vacuum hose to pressure regulator and measure fuel pressure. Check idle mixture ratio. [See page EF & EC-25.]
Not improved [?]
4
5. CHECK — Check throttle chamber ports and valve for clogging.
N.G.
Clean the ports and/or throttle valve.
O.K.
5
6. CHECK — Remove spark plugs and check their ignition sparks by cranking (ignition coil).
For crank angle sensor / engine temp sensor
Check the sensor circuits: engine temp sensor [EF & EC-86], crank angle sensor [EF & EC-82].
O.K. [?]
6
7. CHECK — Check flashes of timing light for weakness (uses power transistor KV10090109S0).
N.G.
Check ignition signal circuit. [See page EF & EC-90.]
O.K. [?]
7
8. CHECK — Check ignition timing; adjust ignition timing. [See page EF & EC-22.]
next [?]
8
9. PERFORM — Perform self-diagnosis Mode IV (for start signal).
N.G.
Check starter circuit. [See page EF & EC-104.]
O.K. [?]
9
10. PERFORM — Perform self-diagnosis Mode III (for engine temp. sensor and crank angle sensor).
next [?]
10
11. CRANK / START — Start with engine temp. sensor connector disconnected.
