WARNING
Before disconnecting fuel line, release fuel pressure from fuel line to eliminate danger.
Releasing Fuel Pressure
- 1Remove fuse for fuel pump.
SEF420H - 2Start engine.
- 3After engine stalls, crank it two or three times to release all fuel pressure.
- 4Turn ignition switch off and reconnect fuel pump fuse.
Fuel Pressure Check
IMPORTANT
a. When reconnecting fuel line, always use new clamps.
IMPORTANT
b. Make sure that clamp screw does not contact adjacent parts.
IMPORTANT
c. Use a torque driver to tighten clamps.
IMPORTANT
d. Use Pressure Gauge to check fuel pressure.
IMPORTANT
e. Do not perform fuel pressure check while fuel pressure regulator control system is operating; otherwise, fuel pressure gauge might indicate incorrect readings.
Fuel Pressure Check
- 1Release fuel pressure to zero.
- 2Disconnect fuel hose between fuel filter and fuel tube (engine side).
SEF892D - 3Install pressure gauge between fuel filter and fuel tube.
SEF892D - 4Start engine and check for fuel leakage.
- 5Read the indication of fuel pressure gauge.At idling: When fuel pressure regulator valve vacuum hose is connected: Approximately 196 kPa (1.96 bar, 2.0 kg/cm², 28 psi). When fuel pressure regulator valve vacuum is disconnected: Approximately 245 kPa (2.45 bar, 2.5 kg/cm², 36 psi).
SEF421H - 6Stop engine and disconnect fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose from intake manifold.
- 7Plug intake manifold with a rubber cap.
- 8Connect variable vacuum source to fuel pressure regulator.
