IDLE SPEED/IGNITION TIMING/IDLE MIXTURE RATIO INSPECTION

Preparation
Make sure that the following parts are in good condition.
Preparation Checklist
- 1Battery
- 2Ignition system
- 3Engine oil and coolant levels
- 4Fuses
- 5E.C.C.S. harness connectors
- 6Vacuum hoses
- 7Air intake system (oil filler cap, oil level gauge, etc.)
- 8Fuel pressure
- 9Engine compression
- 10Throttle valve
- 11Fuel pressure regulator control system
Notice
- 1Turn off air conditioner and headlamps.
- 2During checking and adjusting, make sure engine is at normal operating temperature.
- 3Set shift lever in "Neutral" position ("N" or "P" position for automatic transmission).
- 4Engage parking brake and lock both front and rear wheels with wheel chocks.
- 5Measure "CO"% with air cleaner installed.
- 6When measuring "CO" percentage, insert probe more than 40 cm (15.7 in) into tailpipe.
- 7Make sure fuel pressure regulator control system does not operate.
