Belt Tensioner, Idler Pulley and Tensioner Spring Inspection

  1. 1
    Check belt tensioner and idler pulley for smooth turning.

    Check condition of tensioner spring.

Installation

Timing Belt Installation

  1. 1
    Confirm that No. 1 piston is set at T.D.C. on its compression stroke.
  2. 2
    Install tensioner and tensioner spring.
    Turn tensioner fully clockwise with hexagon wrench, and temporarily tighten lock nut.

    Set timing belt. Align timing marks on timing belt and sprockets.
    39 cogs between cam sprockets (top span).
    48 cogs between cam sprocket and crank sprocket (right side span).
