    Remove center bushing and rack oil seal using tape wrapped socket and extension bar.
    Do not scratch inner surfaces of pinion housing.
    29 mm socket on extension bar (with tape wrapping) being used to push out the center bushing and rack oil seal from the pinion housing.

Power-steering gear assembly

    Using a heat gun, heat rack seal ring (made of Teflon) to approximately 40°C (104°F) and install it onto rack with your hand. Then using Tool, compress periphery of rack seal ring (made of Teflon) to position and secure it on rack.
    Always insert the tool from the rack gear side.

    Insert rack oil seal.
    Place plastic film into rack oil seal to prevent damage by rack teeth.
    Always remove plastic film after rack oil seal is positioned properly.
    Make sure lips of rack oil seal face each other.
    Plastic film placed over the rack teeth to protect the rack oil seal during installation; rack oil seal slid onto rack with film in between.

    Install center bushing and rack oil seal with rack assembly.
